Completed: Max/MSP Kinect Headtracker

Last year I started work on a head tracking program using Max/MSP and the Kinect for Windows. Specific details of the projects intentions can be read in an earlier post here. The original goals of the project have changed slightly and what I present to you is 'An Investigation into Kinect and middleware error and there suitability for academic listening tests.'

It's quite a mouthful but this research essentially takes the error that is intrinsic to the kinect and analyses the error that is introduced by various middleware applications (eg. Synapse, GMS v3.0) and asks if the error is acceptable for the purposes of academic listening tests.

The full paper will be available for download in this blog post at a later date so you can read for yourselves the complete aims of the paper and how the research was undertaken along with what results were found.

The paper is due to be scheduled at the 140th Audio Engineers Society (AES) in June 2016.

All the best,

Tom
